Irene Andrews

Tony O'Brien sends word of the loss of another longtime devoted supporter of bluegrass in Ireland:

I have just got news with deep regret of the passing of Irene Andrews from Belfast, who along with her husband Bill was at every Athy festival up to 2012. They both became personal friends of myself and Joan over the years, and it was always a pleasure to greet them year on year to Athy.

Irene passed away in hospital on Monday and her funeral took place today (Friday). RIP Irene, and condolences to Bill from us all in Athy Bluegrass and the wider bluegrass community.

Tony, thank you so much for your kind words, I only saw this last night and have printed it out and taken it to Dad as well as sending him the link. We are all missing Mum so much right now. She was a special lady. Barbara (Bill & Irenes daughter)

Richard, I thought you should know, Dad (Bill Andrews) has terminal lung cancer and that the doctors think he has weeks to months left. Just coming up to the first anniversary of mum its hit us all very hard.
