The Queen's birthday

Having recently enjoyed a visit from the First Lady of Banjo, we now send congratulations and loyal greetings to Kitsy Kuykendall - hailed as 'The Queen' by members of the International Bluegrass Music Association and by the wider bluegrass world - whose birthday was yesterday.

Thanks to Lucy Weberling of Festival Yoga for the news and the above photo, in which HM Kitsy is shown with Sam Bush, founding father of newgrass music. In addition to her royal status, she is the wife of Pete Kuykendall, who has been too many things in bluegrass music to list here, but is best known as editor of Bluegrass Unlimited magazine.
