Ivor Ottley - performing and teaching in Ireland, 12-19 Dec. 2012

Thanks to Ivor Ottley for some good news for his friends and fans in Ireland, and especially for anyone wanting to learn bluegrass fiddle from the currently reigning West Tennessee Fiddle Champion. Ivor, originally from England, has been long resident in the west of Ireland and subsequently in Sweden, and is shown (left) in Holladay, TN, where he won the championship earlier this year.

Ivor is coming over to Ireland between 12 December and 19 December to play some gigs in the Galway area. He will also be available for teaching and workshops between those dates, and will be glad if the word can be spread around. We're happy to oblige, so please pass it on, especially to anyone who could benefit from contact with this outstanding fiddler. Check the 'Learning' page of his website. He can be contacted by e-mail, and is also on Facebook.

Ivor has also written a solid, extremely useful two-page article, 'Fundamentally good playing', in the current issue of British Bluegrass News (no. 62, autumn 2012), surveying, assessing, and advising on practice methods and instructional resources, which holds good for players of any instrument and for ensembles as well. Strongly recommended.
