Robirohi in Ulster, 18-20 Aug. 2012

Thanks to Tommy Vance for this news:

The Robirohi bluegrass group from Estonia will be in Northern Ireland for a three-day tour from Saturday 18 August to Monday 20 August.

They will be at Gospelfest with Live Issue and others at Old Bann Road, Donaghcloney, Co. Down BT66 7PW, on Saturday 18 August.

Maghaberry Elim Church, Co. Antrim (near Moira), on Sunday 19 August, starting 6.30 p.m.

Red Room, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, with Arnie & Sharon Loughrin on Monday 20 August, 8.00 p.m.; tel. Sharon 07747120659

Robirohi made a powerful impact at the 2007 Omagh festival, particularly with their intense harmony singing, and as a result they were booked to return to Ulster shortly afterwards. It was a stunning blow when their fiddler, Tarmo Vardja, was killed in an accident just before the tour was due to start; despite this, the band fulfilled their commitments (see the BIB, 11 Dec. 2007).

Tarmo's name still appears in the band's lineup; the other members are Robert Kreutzwald (guitar, banjo, vocals), Aivar Nurmik (mandolin, vocals), Indrek Vainu (dobro, autoharp, guitar, vocals), and Jurgis Kazjava (upright bass).
